Pros: accomodation and breakfast 11/10. One of the best I've ever experienced in South Africa. Great security and they cater for fully halaal. The beds were big and comfortable. Cons: our air didn't work in the heat of Summer (35deg). Not enough swimming pools and they are surprisingly small. Bar fridge in the rooms were small and only limited dstv channels. Only heated pool is at the spa and available when doing a treatment.

There staff is beyond customer service, they are friendly, helpful and just amazing! The food is incredible!

We booked for a mid-week family break and found Houw Hoek well-situated for day excursions, It also provided very comfortable accommodation, very good breakfasts and an interesting menu for evening meals. It also provides many other facilities which unfortunately we did not have time to use on this trip

Having driven past this little gem many times, we thought it was worth a punt and duly booked a Saturday night. We are glad we did… The Houw Hoek hotel is beautifully nestled under the mountains and boasts a spa; kids play area, Padel courts (the real reason we went!) and a few nice little shops where you can buy the necessities, get a cup of java and book the Padel courts. The room we stayed in (26) was just the right size and had a double bed as well a single bed in the unit. The bathroom was clean and the shower was great (not always the case). The room had a fireplace in it,which would be very welcome in winter, as well as the standard kettle, coffee, tea and more than enough milk! Saturday evening is famous for the “dinner dance” which comprises of a buffet (fish, lasagna, roasties, pork and beef with the requisite salads and a dance evening!! A myriad of desserts and a coffee bar make this a very pleasant dining occasion. There was a DJ and you can dance the night away. Price - R375 per person All in all the Houw Hoek hotel is well worth a visit.

Our second time at Houw Hoek and certainly not our last, from the friendly staff to the beautiful scenery, the lovely food, pools, entertainment and of coz the spa! A gem indeed, we enjoyed every second. A must visit on your bucket list should you be looking for a nice place to stay.

What an absolute joy it was staying at Houw Hoek Hotel. From the welcoming and lovely staff, to the fantastic facilities and food. Also, the view is breathtaking. I could probably write an entire review about the view alone. We were made to feel at home and everything was effortless. We had dinner there as well and the food was amazing. There was a slight wait, but that is to be expected with a dining room of that size PLUS a wedding that was happening in the other area. Good things require patience, and the food was definitely good! Upon leaving (a Sunday) I noticed my vehicle had a severe puncture and the hotel allowed me to leave my car there overnight so that I could go get it sorted on the Monday. The security guard even helped me with the change! It was an honour to stay at such a marvellous place. Thank you!
